'We want' - Arsenal next transfer set to impact Newcastle United as Mikel Arteta drops hint

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta appeared to hint at what could be the club's next piece of transfer business after selling Emile Smith-Rowe to Fulham during pre-season preparations in the USA.
It is expected that the transfer of Smith-Rowe to the Cottagers will be confirmed in the very near future after the two clubs finally agreed on a £35 million transfer. Fulham had already had a £30 million bid rejected by the Gunners but are now set to beat Crystal Palace to the player.

The goalkeeping position has perhaps been the most controversial position of the Spaniard's Arsenal tenure with David Raya ousting Aaron Ramsdale from the number one spot last time out. The Brentford loanee has now made that move permanent for £27 million.
England international Ramsdale has been hotly tipped to make an Emirates Stadium exit this summer but no move has yet come to fruition. The latest update from GIVEMESPORT this week is that the Gunners were open to a potential loan move given Southampton and Newcastle United interest.
Mikel Arteta has always insisted that Ramsdale is part of his thinking and that still seems to be the case. Neither Ramsdale or Raya are with the Arsenal squad at the moment in America as they enjoy post Euro 2024 breaks, leaving Karl Hein playing between the sticks.

Hein played the entire match against Bournemouth on Thursday, proving a matchwinner as he emerged a penalty shootout hero. Speaking after the match, Arteta praised the goalkeeper and appeared to hint at a potential loan move to allow his progress to continue.
The Arsenal manager said: “That’s a conversation that we are having at the moment. Obviously, David and Aaron are away at the moment and we’re really short in the position.
“We want to develop our players, especially a player like Karl with a big potential and a big future ahead of him. He needs to play games, so we’re going to explore that option as well.”

Despite losing his starting berth, Ramsdale did make 11 appearances in all competitions, although only two of those came after the turn of the calendar year.
