The Sweden international has been one of Europe’s most sought after players this summer, however, The Emirates was always the only place he wanted to play his football. The 27-year old is set to sign for £63.5m according to Fabrizio Romano and will be fired up at the prospect of being the player who could be the difference at the top of the Premier League.

Added to the arrival of Noni Madueke to strengthen the options on the wing and Mikel Arteta has more depth than at any point since taking over as the Gunners boss.

It’s been a while since someone of the calibre of Robin van Persie or Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were strutting their stuff, even if the pair left under a cloud and auspicious circumstances. The hope being that a well organised Arsenal side only needs a more clinical No.9 to finally break their title duck and that Gyokeres can replicate the sort of scoring form of the former Gunners.

If Van Persie and Aubameyang were clever, quick, incisive, what is Gyokeres going to be?

What type of player is Gyokeres going to be for Arsenal?

According to former Manchester United winger Nani, speaking to Rio Ferdinand earlier in the year, claims that Arsenal could be getting a battering ram of a centre-forward

“The last few games I saw him play is much more mature, you know. He's not playing the same. He's using his qualities on the right moments now. He's not losing energy like every time. Now he set the ball back to the players who have to run with the ball. Now he controls the game for the team.

“He's making goals, he's making assists. So I think he's a player who can play in Premier League, trust me. If he was playing the same today as one year ago, I would say no, because in Premier League the defenders will eat him because he just wants to run with the ball, you know?

“Because in Premier League you have runners. But now he's playing with the head and he's really strong, Rio. I was shocked with him. I felt like he's a rock. He's powerful. I swear.”

Does Gyokeres have what it takes for the Premier League?

When asked by Ferdinand if Gyokeres had the tools needed to play in the Premier League, Nani gave a tantalising response: “So you think he could come Premier League? Which team would you say he would be most suited to?”.

“I would love to see him in Man United because we need players, Rio. If he can go to Man United and do the same as doing here, I will be very happy because he scores so many goals. He scores every week.

“If he doesn't score, he assists, you know, he creates for the team. He's very powerful. He's a player who can run 90 minutes at the same speed. Same speed, Rio. It's incredible. You need to come to Portugal and see one game and you will see how strong is this guy. And look, playing like back to the goal and rotate.”

Gyokeres isn’t being expected to do it all on his own. There are already 10 other players plus several backup options who can be relied up to carry out whatever task Arteta sets them. The only thing missing is one of them being able to put the ball in the back of the net on a regular basis – a job that Gyokeres could do in his sleep.
