Tottenham vs Arsenal early injury news as 5 out and 5 doubts for North London derby
All the latest injury news surrounding Arsenal and Tottenham ahead of this weekend’s North London derby.
The North London derby is almost upon us with the international break now wrapped up for another month or so. Sunday brings the first North London derby of the season, with Arsenal heading to Spurs three points better off after just three Premier League games.

Both teams will be desperate to make an early statement with a derby win, but neither will be helped by injuries, and there are plenty across the two clubs even at this early stage. Here we run you through the latest concerning both teams on the injury front.
Mikel Merino - Out
Merino picked up a shoulder injury in one of his early training sessions following his arrival. He will be out until some time in October.
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
Tomiyasu picked up a knee injury in pre-season and has been ruled out until at least the end of this month. Arteta said in August: “I think it will take weeks on that one, unfortunately, and poor Tomi because of everything that he does. But he’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”
Kieran Tierney - Out
Tierney picked up a hamstring injury during his Euro 2024 campaign with Scotland. He is back on the grass but only working on an individual basis.
Declan Rice - Out (Suspended)
Rice received two yellow cards and a red last time out. He will serve his one-game suspension during this fixture.
Gabriel Jesus - Doubt
Jesus is a doubt through a groin injury he picked up towards the end of August. He is hoping to return in time to feature in this one but will remain a doubt for now. Arteta said on August 24: “Unfortunately on Thursday in the training session, just at the end he felt something in his groin. We’ll need to assess him. We need to have an MRI scan to see, but he wasn’t available for the game."
Riccardo Calafiori - Doubt
The Italian picked up a lower leg injury that will render him a doubt here but he does have a chance of recovering in time.
Martin Odegaard - Doubt
Odegaard picked up a concerning looking ankle injury during international duty with Norway and returned to London on crutches. The Norway team doctor Ola Sand claimed the injury was a “small sprain” but it’s unclear what the MRI scan showed. It will be a quick turnaround to shake off the injury ahead of this one, even if it is minor, and Arsenal won’t want to take any big risks with one of their most important players.
Richarlison - Out
Richarlison is currently sidelined and will likely miss this one, hoping to return the following weekend. Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou said at the time of his injury early this month: “The only other one we got midweek is Richarlison, who unfortunately picked up an injury in training, so he'll probably miss the next few weeks.”
Dominic Solanke - Doubt
Solanke is recovering from an ankle injury and should be confident of getting back to action here. Postecoglou said after the Newcastle game before the break: “Dom is close but we're going to be a bit cautious with him, we've got a big programme post the international break, so he'll miss out on Sunday.”
Micky van de Ven - Doubt
The instrumental van de Ven picked up a knee injury against Everton but should be confident of returning. Postecoglou said before the break: “Micky was close, he trained this week, but he's not quite 100 per cent. Part of me was keen to give Radu a run as well, especially at this venue, so we've gone with Radu. It's nothing serious, we've a heavy programme after the international break. We're going to need all our back four, so getting Radu a game is positive for us."
