'There was only one' - Bernardo Silva tears into Arsenal with Liverpool claim after Man City draw

Bernardo Silva is on the offensive against Arsenal after Manchester City snatched a late draw against them on Sunday.

Manchester City forward Bernardo Silva has taken a huge swipe at Arsenal over their approach at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday. The two title candidates played out a heated 2-2 draw, with City equalising against the 10-man Gunners with virtually the last kick of the game.

Arsenal came from behind to lead 2-1 thanks to goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, but the ball fell to John Stones after a corner deep into stoppage time, with the England international equalising after the Gunners had held out with 10 men for 45 minutes.

The Gunners played pretty defensively for the first half, although they did get forward a little more towards the very end of the half. And in the second half, they were forced to play ultra-defensive, given Leandro Trossard was sent off deep into first half stoppage time with the score 2-1 in favour of the Gunners.

Arteta has previously been criticised for his approach against City, and Citizens star Silva has now added fuel to that fire. Asked how City’s rivalry with Arsenal and Liverpool differs, the Portugal international replied to TNT Sports: “The difference? I don’t know.”

“Maybe that Liverpool have already won the Premier League, Arsenal haven’t. That Liverpool have won the Champions League, Arsenal haven’t. Liverpool always faced us face-to-face, to try to win the games, so from this perspective the games against Arsenal haven’t been like the ones we had and have against Liverpool. So yes, maybe a different rivalry.”

Doubling down on his criticism, the forward added: “There was only one team that came to play football. The other came to play to the limits of what was possible to do and allowed by the referee, unfortunately. But at the end we got a draw, the best we could get considering the context of the last moments of the match.

“We’re not happy as we wanted the three points, but personally I’m happy with the way we came to play and faced the game. I’m glad we always enter the pitch to try to win every match. It all started in the very first second.”
