England were held by Switzerland in the first half as Bukayo Saka impressed for the Three Lions.

Chelsea legend Frank Lampard heaped praise on Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka at half-time as England take on Switzerland in the quarter finals of Euro 2024 in Dusseldorf.

The former midfielder is working as a pundit for the BBC and was in the studio alongside Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Rio Ferdinand to give his thoughts at half-time. Gareth Southgate's side started the match much more positively than in their first four fixtures of the tournament.

Despite the 0-0 score, the pundits were positive about the Three Lions efforts.

Gunners star Saka was particularly impressive in the first 45 minutes. Deployed in an unusual wing-back role, the 26-year-old proved a threat going forwards as he came close to making the breakthrough happen for the national side.

Speaking in the studio, Lampard said: "I don't think they should worry about the lack of chances so much. When you're playing against an organised back five, it's so hard to create. Saka there was so dangerous. How many times can we get him on the ball? Stay consistent with it.

"This is the player we know. He's been one of the best wingers in world football for what he's done at Arsenal. You do not want to be one on one against him. He is so good at it."

Former Manchester City and Aston Villa star Micah Richards also had praise for the Arsenal man, who bagged 20 goals and 14 assists in all competitions during the 2023/24 season.

Richards said: "We wondered where he'd play on the left but he's played in a comfortable position on the right where we see him week-in, week-out for Arsenal.

"Aebischer doesn't know what to do at all, whether to go inside or outside. It's helped the team because the team is higher up and that's what we see. He's been absolutely brilliant with his movement and rotation. Everything he's done has been creative and lively."
