Chelsea legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been praising Arsenal for their win over the Blues on Tuesday night.

It was easy work for the Gunners to see off their London rivals, leading 3-0 by half-time at the Emirates Stadium. Martin Odegaard scored twice for Mikel Arteta’s men, while Gabriel Jesus added a third to set up a comfortable 3-1 home win.

At this point, the title is out of Arsenal’s hands, with Manchester City currently on course to come out on top, but for now, the Gunners have returned to top spot, and they have put the pressure back on City.

As Hasselbaink highlights, that’s all Arteta’s men can do at this point.

“You must say, all credit to Arsenal,” said the former striker on Sky Sports. “They responded really well. It was not easy, but they started so well, they were in control. They score one, two, three and you think they are only going to get stronger.

“They showed character, and they showed more hunger than Chelsea. You can see they are up for the fight. This is the only thing they can do - come here tonight, play like they are playing, taking the three points and putting pressure on Manchester City. That is the only thing they can do, and now it’s on to the next one.”

Arsenal now face the biggest test of their remaining games, making the trip North to face an in-form Newcastle United side on Sunday. The Gunners are going to need to pass that test if they want to remain in the title race, likely needing to win all of their remaining games. Meanwhile, City face West Ham on Wednesday night ahead of turning attention to a clash with lowly Leeds United this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s men do, however, still have the Champions League to worry about, facing Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
