Premier League table without VAR: Where Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham & West Ham would sit in shock findings

West Ham came out on top against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night as the Premier League title race took another twist

Arsenal missed the chance to return to the top of the Premier League table as West Ham United claimed a 2-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night. Tomas Soucek scored a controversial opener as VAR checked if the ball went out of play before Jarrod Bowen hit the ball back across the box for Soucek to sidefoot home.

Stockley Park spent a long time looking at the incident but were unable to determine if the ball had gone completely out of play due to insufficient camera angles. Konstantinos Mavropanos then powered home a header after 55 minutes but Arsenal missed a handful of opportunities to get back in the game. Although, they could have lost by a greater margin but David Raya saved a stoppage-time penalty from Saïd Benrahma. The result leaves Arsenal two points behind Liverpool and three points ahead of Manchester City, although Pep Guardiola's side have a game in hand over the top two.

Earlier in the evening, Tottenham Hotspur's Champions League hopes were dealt a set-back as they were beaten 4-2 by Brighton, with the hosts going 4-0 up before Spurs scored two late goals to salvage some pride. On Wednesday night Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in an all-London affair, while Brentford lost 4-1 at home to Wolves. Fulham also lost by a three-goal margin, as they were beaten 3-0 at Bournemouth on Tuesday.

With some VAR controversy at the Emirates on Thursday, London World looks at how the Premier League table so far might shape up without the involvment of the technology. Factoring in goals disallowed or awarded, including via penalties, here's how the table might stand at the midway point.
