Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner is closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest.

Chris Wheatley confirmed the Gunners have agreed a deal with their Premier League rivals after talks between the two clubs got underway last week.

United States international Turner moved to the Emirates Stadium from MLS side New England Revolution last summer but made just seven appearances in all competitions across his first year in North London. Forest have been keen on the 29-year-old in recent weeks and he has been under consideration alongside Manchester United’s Dean Henderson as Steve Cooper looks to add a goalkeeper to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

The report suggests Turner will now undergo a medical at the City Ground and is expected to follow fellow Gunner Auston Trusty out of the door after he agreed to join Premier League newcomers Sheffield United on a permanent deal last week.

Turner’s move to Forest could see Arsenal ramp up their interest in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya after the Gunners were unsuccessful in their initial offer for the Spaniard last month.

French outlet TF1 has claimed the Ligue 1 outfit are ready to make a move for Balogun and offer him another chance to impress in France after he shone during a loan spell at Reims last season. The 22-year-old netted 22 goals and provided three assists in 39 appearances in all competitions and that helped attract attention from several clubs around Europe ahead of his return to Arsenal.

The likes of Inter Milan, West Ham United and Chelsea are said to retain an interest in the striker - but Lens are set to try their luck as they prepare for their return to the Champions League after they ended last season in second place in Ligue 1.
