Arsenal are back to winning ways with the help of the Carabao Cup, the Gunners seeing off Championship opponents Preston North End on Wednesday night. The Gunners drew with Liverpool over the weekend, missing the chance to return to the thick of the title race, though they are still only five points behind the pace, and fixtures do favour them over the next two months.

Hide AdNext up for Mikel Arteta’s men is a date with Newcastle United away from home, with the Magpies having slipped down to 12th despite a strong start to the season. Here we round up the latest injury news surrounding both clubs ahead of the St James’ Park clash.
Jamaal Lascelles - Out
Lascelles faces a long road to recovery, recently saying: “I should be back on the grass soon and jogging in the next few weeks. It'll take me a while to build up from there, but I'm happy to be ticking those boxes, and now it's about getting my boots back on and progressing slowly that way.”
Sven Botman - Out
Botman is another who will be out until at least the new year. “He's hitting the right strength markers and looking really good,” Eddie Howe has said. “We haven't seen him in training yet, and we probably won't see him until after the next break. But he is closing in. The reality is that we're probably looking more towards Christmas time.”

Hide AdCallum Wilson - Doubt
It looks as though Wilson will not be risked here, and maybe not until after the international break. Howe said over a week ago: “He's felt a tightness in his body. He hasn't felt like he could kick on. With Callum, we are hypersensitive to any reaction to the work. There's no injury as such; he's just not ready to come back.”
Kieran Trippier - Out
Trippier is not expected to return until after this game. Howe has said: “Kieran has picked up a hamstring problem. It's probably nothing too serious, but it will keep him out for a few weeks.”
Alexander Isak - Doubt
Isak picked up a knock during the week with Howe saying: “I hope he’s OK. I haven’t spoken to him yet, but fingers crossed that it’s nothing serious.” He may well be fit to play here.

Hide AdJacob Murphy - Doubt
Howe said last week: “Jacob was missing because of a slight hamstring. He couldn’t play tonight, but we don’t think it’s anything serious.” But Murphy still hasn’t returned and it’s unclear whether he will be back here.
Riccardo Calafiori - Out
Calafiori will be out until late November with Arteta saying earlier this month: “He will be out for a few weeks, I’d say.”
Kieran Tierney - Out
Tierney will be looking to return at a similar date as he looks to get back from a hamstring injury. Arteta said recently: “I think he's quite close. He's looking really good. I think he's over the period where he was still struggling, so he looks really sharp out there. He hasn't trained with the team yet, but hopefully, he can do that in the next week or two.”

Hide AdMartin Odegaard - Out
Odegaard looks set to miss another week or so with his ankle injury. Arteta has said: “He’s been on the grass for a few weeks, but there are still a few boxes to tick. How fast we can do that last stage of the rehab is a question we have to answer when we have players around, and he starts competing with the team, something he hasn’t done yet. Hopefully, yes, [he'll return before the break].”
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
It’s unclear when Tomiyasu will return from his knee injury with no clear return date just yet. He picked up the injury in pre-season.
Arteta said of Gabriel last week: “We are still assessing him; it doesn't look bad at all. He was much better than expected, so hopefully, he'll be fine.”
