Arsenal star Martin Odegaard cracked a smirk as he calmly hit back at Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher for his viral scorn on the player's celebration having beaten Liverpool last month.

The Gunners were purring again on Monday night as they blew Sheffield United away 6-0 at Bramall Lane. Odegaard was the linchpin of the performance as he energised Mikel Arteta's side from the first minute.

The 25-year-old was named Man of the Match on Sky Sports Monday Night Football and chatted to Carragher, Thierry Henry and David Jones in the studio.

At the end of the interview, a chuckling Carragher said: "Martin, it was a fantastic performance by yourself, great win for the team. I just didn't see the photographer on the pitch... is he in the dressing room?"

The former defender was of course referring to when Odegaard stayed on the pitch at the Emirates Stadium after beating Liverpool. "Get down the tunnel," the pundit jibed after watching his beloved Reds be beaten.

Replying to the cheeky question on Monday night, Odegaard said: "I was waiting for you to say something. I was too scared to do it today. I went straight inside today."

Carragher and Henry then burst into hysterics in the studio before Jones added: "You can celebrate when you like. We'll look after the celebration police in here!"

Prior to the interaction, Odegaard provided his analysis of the fixture and Arsenal's latest rampant start to the match. He said: "We know it's a tough place to come so we've done really good from the start. We controlled the game, we know they play a lot of direct football and we had to be ready for that. When we had the ball we were in a good mood today, created a lot, scored the goals early on and kept going from there.

"We wanted to keep the momentum going. We've had some good games. When you come to places like this it can be tricky if you don't start well. Today we did and we didn't stop from there."
