Manager denies Arsenal transfer approach as 'battle' emerges over £51.4m La Liga star

All the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding Arsenal as they turn attention to Aston Villa.

Arsenal continued their dominance at the top of the Premier League on Tuesday night, albeit in narrow fashion. The Gunners once again had to rally until the very last moment to see off Luton Town away from home, winning 4-3 to go five points clear of second-placed Liverpool.

Mikel Arteta's men remain in control of top spot, and they will now prepare for another tough away trip this weekend, facing Aston Villa on Saturday. Unai Emery's side, who face Manchester City on Wednesday evening, have won all of their home games in the Premier League so far. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news surrounding the Emirates Stadium.

Howe on Ramsdale links

Newcastle United have been linked with a move for out of favour Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale after Nick Pope suffered a serious shoulder injury. Magpies boss Eddie Howe has now had his say on those links.

He said in his most recent press conference: "I've seen a lot of media headlines regarding goalkeepers and other players. We have not made any enquiries. If we were to recruit now we'd be recruiting in every area on the pitch. It's a chance for the other keepers to consolidate their positions. We really believe in Martin. Martin is a high-class goalkeeper, very good with his feet and distribution."

Baena interest

Arsenal are said to be interested in a deal for Villarreal star Alex Baena. The Gunners could look to add more creativity to their midfield in the summer, or perhaps earlier. Diario AS claim Baena is of interest after enjoying an impressive last 18 months in the East of Spain.

Baena has a release clause worth around £51.4million, and the Yellow Submarine are not likely to sell him for less, given they sold Samu Cukwueze, Nicolas Jackson and Pau Torres in the summer. Meanwhile, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be interested in a deal, though summer approaches seem more likely at this point.
