Man Utd boss issues 'not training' injury update ahead of Liverpool and Arsenal clashes
Manchester United boss Rubem Amorim has been speaking about his side’s injury issues ahead of clashes with Liverpool and Arsenal.
Arsenal will now take a break from the Premier League to turn their attention to the FA Cup, kicking off their campaign in the third round, as is tradition. The Gunners were not blessed with an easy draw this season, getting a home clash with Manchester United off the bat.
United have been struggling with form for the whole of this season, and even new manager Ruben Amorim hasn’t been able to turn things around, with the Red Devils closer to the relegation zone then they are to the European spots, going into this weekend seven points above the bottom three.
But there is still no doubting that Arsenal would have preferred to get a lower league club to offer game time to young players than having to put out at least a semi-strong side if they have hopes of progressing to the next round.
As for United, they play their last Premier League game before the FA Cup on Sunday, taking on rivals Liverpool with the chance to do the Gunners a big favour, though Arne Slot’s men look unstoppable at present.
Ahead of that one, United boss Amorim issued an injury update that may impact the Arsenal clash, with Marcus Rashford currently out with illness. “No, I think Rashford is ill,” he said. “Jonny (Evans) is out. I think the rest – Vic (Lindelof) is almost there and Luke (Shaw) also. But they are out. The others, I think, are fit.”
He added on Rashford: “It's the same situation, at the moment he is ill. He is not training. We will see in the future but this is like a normal player, then I make a selection. So, it's the same. I think he is going to be out, this week he is out.” United also remain without Mason Mount, who is sidelined until at least later this month.
