Mikel Arteta has revealed what state Bukayo Saka’s current situation is in after it was reported that Manchester City were eager to lure him away from the Emirates Stadium.
The Arsenal boss spoke on the England international following their 2-0 win over Everton, expressing his confidence over a new contract.
Arteta said: “We will try. We both have the same intention. It’s a matter of time.”
Saka signed a long-term contract with Arsenal in 2020 after enjoying his breakthrough season in the Premier League and now has two years remaining until his current deal expires.
Saka enjoyed his best season in an Arsenal shirt last time out, scoring eleven goals and claiming seven assists in the Premier League as the Gunners narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot.
While Arteta is clearly feeling positive about his star boy extending his stay in North London, 90min previously reported that the winger is in no rush to put pen to paper.
However, the club are not immediately concerned about his future but would prefer to have a deal sorted by the end of the summer transfer window.
