Laura Woods sent the Instagram services into meltdown on Monday as she labelled a critic a 'sausage' for wading in with an opinion on Arsenal's signing of Declan Rice.

The new TNT Sports figurehead appeared in the club's announcement video to confirm the £105 million signing of Rice from West Ham. In the clip, Woods appears on a fake YouTube show called Transfer Talk with Laura Woods to hype up the new Gunners star. She reads: "Well, our sources are telling us that the deal to Arsenal is close, but will they get it over the line."

The former talkSPORT star appears alongside Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah, Alessia Russo, Ian Wright and even Stormzy in the clip released over the weekend. "He's here, and he's perfect," Woods wrote when sharing the video.

One of Woods' followers decided to take issue with the signing and rushed to the comments to share their thoughts. The account wrote: "Embarrassing messing about by a pathetic club who know they've deliberately unsettled a player and now want him on the cheap because they know he's another [Harry] Maguire, barely worth half what they have agreed to pay."

Having forked out a record sum for the international, Woods clearly found the opinion nonsensical and replied: "None of this makes any sense. Want him on the cheap? Just paid over £100m for him you sausage."

While the presenter's comeback may have seemed fairly innocuous to the average reader, it have Instagram's servers hot under the collar as the platform fired a warning message back at Woods. It read: "Your comment goes against our Community Guidelines on hate speech or symbols.

"Our guidelines encourage people to express themselves in a way that's respectful to everyone. If you think we made a mistake, you can ask us to review our decision."

Woods saw the humour in her scalding from the Mark Zuckerberg-owned site, sharing the image on her story with a laughing emoji. She added: "Is 'sausage' classed as hate speech these days?"
