'Keeps getting better' - Ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp compares Arsenal star to Yaya Toure

A former Premier League manager has heaped praise on a current member of the Arsenal squad.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Portsmouth head coach Harry Redknapp has lent some heavy praise to a current member of the Arsenal squad - none other than star summer signing Declan Rice, who he thinks is 'just getting better' with each passing game.

The 77-year-old described Rice as a player who has 'everything' and believes he is thriving in a somewhat more advanced role over the past few games for the Gunners. Additionally, he also drew favourable comparisons between Rice and Manchester City icon Yaya Toure in terms of their playing style.

Rice has been a revelation at the heart of midfield for the Gunners this season. He has scored six goals this season and has notched up seven assists across all competitions - he has also made the 2nd most passes into the final third of any player in the Premier League this season, with only Rodri surpassing him in this regard.

After his mature display against Brentford at the weekend, Redknapp declared him as his 'star man' for the previous game week. Redknapp himself led an illustrious managerial career in football - as well as Spurs and Portsmouth, he also took the reins at clubs such as West Ham United, Birmingham City and QPR, to varying degrees of success.

What did Harry Redknapp say about Arsenal's Declan Rice?

In a recent interview with BetVictor, when asked about Rice, Redknapp purred: "He cost a lot of money, but Declan Rice is looking like a bargain to me. Declan’s got everything and he just keeps getting better. He’s been playing further forward for Arsenal and causing so many problems with his pace and drive.

"I’ve seen some people compare him to Yaya Toure, that’s not a bad comparison. He got a goal and really led that Arsenal side against Brentford, he’s my star man this week."
