What Mikel Arteta has said

Arteta said of his side’s current state after the recent win over United: “There are obviously different layers and different things that we have to improve and get better at, but I think we have good foundations at the moment. The spirit is good, the way the boys are working and applying themselves, that will that they have to compete and win is there, and I’ve tried to maximise the last two weeks to give them the best possible foundation.”

On what he told his players, he added: “It’s a test. There are not three points but there are a lot of things on the table and you could see that. I think both teams were the same. Man United competed at the highest level as well and that’s what you want, you want to get well-prepared for the matches we have in the league and in the Champions League. You need to have a good understanding of where your team is as quickly as possible.”

What Arne Slot has said

On his side’s win over Real Betis, Slot said: “If I'm coaching my team I'm only focused on 11 players. What can they do? What can they do better? Which positions they have to take, which choices do they make? So I'm not so aware constantly of coaching Liverpool or the amount of fans that are there. My focus is mainly on the team and where I can help them during the game or during half-time. Of course it's a nice experience to play in front of the fans, because they were there with a lot of people even here in the USA. Like I said, mainly focused on the players and not as much focused on the fans, but it's nice to play in front of them and to have them here as well.”
