Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham will receive a healthy pay packet as part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

All three London clubs have plenty of representatives in Qatar this winter with the World Cup taking place over the next month or so. The competition is already underway, with Ecuador defeating hosts Qatar on Sunday, while England and Wales will begin their World Cup campaigns on Monday.

Meanwhile, club football will take a break of around a month, with no more Premier League football until Boxing Day, to allow for the World Cup to play out, while the Carabao Cup returns shortly before for clubs still in the competition.

With the unusual timing of this edition of the World Cup, clubs will be praying their players return from Qatar unscathed, with more than half the season still to play. A number of players missed the World Cup due to it being played in the winter, with no real gap between club action and international action, as there usually is in the summer.

Players taking part in Qatar, will be playing in a very different climate to what they are used to, with Qatari temperatures averaging from 27-30+ degrees even at this time of year. And that change of setting could put players at greater risk of injury, especially with the little rest they have been afforded so far this season.

But there is good news for clubs with players at the World Cup. As part of FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme, clubs will receive $10,000 (£8,473) per player per day while said player is still at the World Cup. FIFA are paying out a whopping $209million (£177million) to clubs, and the compensation is guaranteed and paid in full.

Arsenal have 10 players at the World Cup, meaning they will be due $100,000 (£84,733) per day while all of those players are still competing. That includes a period of preparation before the World Cup commenced, while group stages last for eight to nine days from first two last game, depending on the group. Based on nine days, without the preparation period, Arsenal should earn $900,000 (£762,597) for the group stage period alone.

Chelsea have 12 players involved, guaranteeing them $120,000 (£101,757) per day while they are all involved, and around $1.08million (£915,818) for the nine group stage days, plus the amount due for the preparation days. Meanwhile, Tottenham have 11 players in Qatar, giving them $110,000 (£93,277) per day and a total of around $990,000 (£839,500) for the group stage, plus the pre-tournament total.

All three clubs would then add $10,000 (£8,473) per day per player for the knockout stages, which will vary depending on how many players make it beyond the group stage.
