“He will” - Arsenal could land £20m transfer windfall on one condition amid talks

Arsenal could be set to land a significant windfall ahead of the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

Arsenal could yet land a transfer windfall of more than £20million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have spent well over £200million this summer, snapping up the likes of Jurrien Timber, Declan Rice, David Raya and Kai Havertz. Mikel Arteta has been well backed as Arsenal look to go one better than last season, when they fell just short in the Premier League title race.

Though, while Arsenal are just fine for cash, they do need to balance the books to keep up with Financial Fair Play rules, whether that be this summer or in January.

The best way to do that is by offloading players who are not in Arteta’s immediate plans, and one of those players is Kieran Tierney. Tierney saw his play time reduced significantly last season, and the Scot missed out on Arsenal’s squad for their first game of the season, against Nottingham Forest.

Arteta has Oleksandr Zinchenko as his main left-back, and Jakub Kiwior has emerged as the best back-up option after impressing last season. Tierney has spoken of his willingness to play a supplamentary role, but according to transfer insider Romano, he may not be as happy to play that role as he makes out.

It’s claimed that, amid interest from Real Sociedad - and possibly others - Tierney would like a move away from Arsenal.

“I think he will because, on the player’s side, they are open to making this move happen. He wants to play, and that’s why Arsenal have the same intention,” Romano told GiveMeSport.

“Real Sociedad are the club showing the biggest interest because they made a verbal proposal for a loan deal with a buy option. Arsenal asked for an obligation. So, Arsenal want a permanent transfer. For Tierney, they aren’t so keen on a loan transfer. Let’s see how the conversation with Real Sociedad will continue.”

Arsenal value Tierney at around £20-25million, and they could be set to land a significant transfer windfall as a result of interest from Spain, as long as they can hold out for a permanent deal.
