Harry Kane reveals Thomas Tuchel's half-time message vs Arsenal after showing class at full-time whistle

Harry Kane has revealed Thomas Tuchel’s message to the Bayern Munich players that led to a winning second-half performance against Arsenal on Wednesday night at the Allianz Arena. Joshua Kimmich’s second-half header proved the difference between Bayern and the Gunners, though the home side were suprior in most departments on Wednesday evening.

Kane was not able to add to his first leg goal, but he will have enjoyed the win over his old rivals, Arsenal, with Bayern needing to progress to save a hugely disappointing season up to this point. Tuchel has already announced his departure after less than a full year after seeing his side fall significantly short to Bayer Leverkusen in Bundesliga.

While Bayern were generally superior on Wednesday night, they took firm control in the second half, and after the game, TNT Sports asked Kane about the message he and his teammates were given by head coach Tuchel. He responded: “I think, in these types of games, the first half is always a little bit cagey.

“Both teams don’t want to concede early, so, we said at half time to up the tempo and up the pressing, to be better with the ball and that’s what we (have) done. We create a lot of chances, and we had a couple off the post. Even towards the end there, we probably could have finished it off and made it a bit easier on ourselves. But overall, these games are tough and you just have to find ways to get through them.”

Speaking about the game more generally, the striker added: “An unbelievable win. It’s been a tough season for us. We have had to fight and grind, and today was just that. We knew it was going to be a tough game. We knew that at home, we could make the difference with our fans there, and it was what we expected - a tough game, a tight game. It was a great goal from Josh (Kimmich) and then it’s about defending and keeping the clean sheet. It’s a great achievement for us, to make the semi-final, and we can enjoy this one.”

It’s worth noting that Kane showed some real class after the game by embracing a disheartened Bukayo Saka, taking time after the full-time whistle to console his England teammate. The former Spurs man hugged Saka and appeared to whisper a message of encouragement into the winger’s ear. The footage of the moment can be seen in the tweet above.
