Latest news regarding this rumoured Arsenal transfer target at London rivals Chelsea

Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. The Gunners are keen to lure the Germany international to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

According to reporter Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Mikel Arteta’s side have been the ‘green light’ to speak to the player about a deal. Bayern Munich remain in the frame for his signature but Real Madrid are no longer a viable option.

Arsenal have identified the attacker as a potential summer addition as they look to add some reinforcements to their ranks. They finished 2nd in the Premier League table behind Manchester City last season and will be aiming for another push for top spot in the next campaign.

Havertz, who is 24-years-old, has been on the books at Chelsea since 2020 and scored the winner for the Blues in the Champions League final a year later against City in Porto. He has made 139 appearances for the London club in all competitions to date and has scored 32 goals, nine of which came in the last campaign.

He still has another two years left on his contract at Stamford Bridge but his future has been flung up in the air with the new transfer window now open ahead of next term. His potential departure from the Blues would free up space and funds for their new boss Mauricio Pochettino to bring in some of his own players as the former Tottenham Hotspur man looks to put his own stamp on his newly inherited squad.

Prior to his move to England, he rose up through the ranks at Bayer Leverkusen and broke into their first-team as a youngster in the Bundesliga before firing 46 goals in 150 outings. Arsenal are being linked now and a change of scene may well be on the way for him soon.
