Granit Xhaka made an emotional farewell to the Arsenal faithful on Sunday afternoon in what is expected to be his final game for the club.

The Swiss midfielder netted a quickfire first half double against Wolves as the Gunners breezed past Julen Lopetegui’s side.

Xhaka made a pointed celebration for his second goal when he went over to celebrate with teammate Mohamed Elneny, who is currently on the sidelines recovering from knee surgery.

Elneny was one of several Gunners players’ who recently completed his UEFA B Licence alongside Xhaka, whilst working with Arsenal’s age groups.

Additionally, the duo are two of the club’s longest serving players and have both been at Emirates Stadium since 2016.

As revealed by LondonWorld, 30-year-old Xhaka is close to joining Bayer Leverkusen on a permanent transfer for a fee in the region of £13m, after opting to seek a new challenge.

Xhaka has resurrected his Arsenal career under Mikel Arteta on several occasions after being booed off the pitch by fans in 2019, becoming a key player at the heart of midfield for the Spaniard this season.
