Gomez leaves City

Manchester City have pocketed a transfer windfall from versatile Spanish star Sergio Gomez, who has returned to his home country to join Real Sociedad. City have received £8.4million for the deal Gomez only managed 18 league appearances during his time with City, arriving in 2022.

"Being part of such a talented, ambitious and successful squad was a true honour and winning a host of major trophies, including the Treble, is something I will never forget and will always look back fondly on,” Gomez told the BBC upon his departure. "I am excited for this new adventure but I wish Pep Guardiola and the players every success in the future."

Speaking about his versatility previously, the Spaniard said: “Whenever I play with these team-mates I enjoy it a lot, whether if I play as a winger or as a full back. In the national team I am more used to play as a winger, but in both positions I feel comfortable. I always try to help the team no matter what position I am playing whether it is for City or Spain.”

Fulham push for Souza

Fulham are said to be in talks with Sheffield United over a deal to sign Vini Souza. According to Venê Casagrande, the Cottagers saw a bid of around £15million rejected by the Blades, but talks are continuing, with a deal seemingly there to be struck.

The Blades signed Souza for £12.5million and it is not clear how much they are demanding to commission a sale. Describing his playing style while speaking to Sky Sports last year, the midfielder said: "I love to win duels. Everybody knows that's important in the Premier League because the games are so hard."

Evans pens new deal

Manchester United have confirmed a new deal with veteran defender Jonny Evans. Evans was signed as emergency cover at centre-back last season but managed to feature in as many as 30 games across all competitions. He has now penned new terms to keep him in place up to the summer of 2025.

He said upon signing the deal: “To play for this great club and feel the support from our incredible fans is always a privilege. Returning to the club last season was an honour; representing the team on the pitch alongside fantastic team-mates under an excellent manager. Winning the FA Cup together was an unforgettable experience; I know we can challenge for more trophies in the season ahead.”
