The latest news from Arsenal as Mikel Arteta’s side continue their push for the Premier League title.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted he is ‘not a big fan’ of current Gunners star Kai Havertz.

There was much talk surrounding the German international’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium last summer after he completed a £65m from London rivals Chelsea.  Many onlookers questioned the signing after the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact during his three-year stay at Stamford Bridge - but Havertz has slowly settled into life with the Gunners and has impressed with 13 goals and six assists in 48 appearances in all competitions.

His latest strike came in Sunday’s North London derby win against Tottenham Hotspur as the German continued his recent upturn in form - but that has not been enough to fully convince Adebayor of his talents.

The former Gunners star told Premier League Productions: “He has adapted well, but I am not a big fan of the player, to be honest.  He isn’t that strong and when you are playing up front for a team like Arsenal.  First and foremost, you have to be strong and you have to be clever. He’s a very good player with the feet. Football is a game, whenever you score, you are the hero and when you don’t score, then you are the villain. If he doesn’t score and Arsenal ends up losing, then the fans won’t be happy about it.  But if he manages to score a goal and get a win for his team, as he is doing at the end of the season for his team, then he will be the hero.”

Gunners target to make summer transfer decision

Arsenal’s plans for the summer transfer window are largely centred around boosting their options in the heart of their midfield.

Mikel Arteta is believed to be keen to add a midfielder to his ranks at the end of the season and there have been links with the likes of Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz, Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Newcastle United’s Brazilian star Bruno Guimaraes. However, the latest update surrounds another reported target after journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana will make a decision over his future during the summer.

Writing in his CaughtOffside column, he said: “I can guarantee that for Fofana there’s a lot of interest but nothing concrete at this point with Arsenal or any club.

“Fofana will decide his future in the summer, not now. So nothing concrete is happening at the moment. Arsenal have some priorities in the midfield and I can confirm the names I mentioned in the recent months such as Douglas Luiz and Martin Zubimendi.  I’ve been impressed with Fofana’s performances so I’m not surprised he’s a name making headlines, but that’s just normal speculation that we always get at this time of year.”
