Aaron Ramsdale is not having the best of seasons at Arsenal so far, having been dropped to the bench in favour of David Raya - and Emmanuel Petit believes he should depart the club to secure more playing time.

Petit says he thinks Ramsdale looks 'miserable' in his current situation and thinks he should 'absolutely leave' the Emirates Stadium - especially with the 2024 Euros drawing ever closer.

Moreover, he also thinks that several high-profile clubs would 'love' to have him. Last season, Ramsdale was regarding as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, playing every minute of every game for the Gunners as they finished second.

Petit played for Arsenal between the years of 1997 and 2000, playing a key role in their 1997/98 title winning campaign. Additionally, he also featured for clubs such as Chelsea, Monaco and Barcelona over the course of his illustrious career.

What did Emmanuel Petit say about Aaron Ramsdale?

In the interview with Compare.bet, Petit said: "People say that signing Raya was a mistake and he hasn’t been perfect but aren’t Arsenal top of the league? Yes, Raya has made some mistakes, but he has also made some brilliant saves and he has been excellent in building up from the back.

"If I was Ramsdale there is no doubt I would ask for a move away in January. I can see he is miserable at the moment and every day he must be waking up thinking ‘what did I do wrong?’ He did everything, and has no reason to feel responsible for dropping him, but you cannot deny that Arsenal are first in the league with Raya in goal.

"Especially with the Euros coming up, Ramsdale absolutely has to leave. I’m pretty sure there are many, many clubs in the Premier League that would love to have him."
