A former Chelsea and Arsenal man scored a brilliant hattrick in the Europa League - including a spectacular bicycle kick.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a name that Arsenal fans will remember quite fondly - perhaps not so much for Chelsea fans. His career looked to be over following his departure from Stamford Bridge, but he proved last night that he still has what it takes to impress on the European stage.

The Gabonese international now plies his trade for Marseille - they played against Ajax yesterday evening, winning by a score of 4-3 in a thrilling encounter. Aubemyang scored a hattrick in that game, including a jaw-dropping overhead kick and he also scored the winning goal with a neatly-taken penalty. Marseille's other goal of the game was netted by former Newcastle United defender Chancel Mbemba.

During his time with Arsenal, Aubameyang 68 Premier League goals over the course of 128 games. His impact at Chelsea was much lesser than this, as he netted just a single goals in 15 league appearances for the Blues. On the international stage, he scored 30 goals across 74 caps for his native Gabon.

How is Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang performing at Marseille this season?

While Aubameyang's performances in Ligue 1 have left much to be desired, scoring just one goal and notching up three assists, he has been comparatively excellent in European competitions. He scored two goals in two games in the Champions League qualifying stage and currently has five goals across four games to his name in the Europa League.

At the age of 34, Aubameyang's best days are well behind him. He no longer possesses the electric pace that made him famous - but his more underrated traits, such as his movement and finishing, are still present. His days in the Premier League are probably over, but he can still perform at the highest level of football when he is called upon to do so.
