Arsenal continue to discuss a transfer with Bologna over the signing of Riccard Calafiori. The defender impressed at Euro 2024 with a poor Italy side and he looks set to make the switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Romano has tweeted: “Talks between Arsenal and Bologna for Riccardo Calafiori are still ongoing. Bologna insist on €50m fee, no plans to reduce the price tag as they owe 50% to FC Basel. Arsenal want to include add-ons as key part of the deal. Calafiori wants Arsenal, waiting for them.”
Calafiori has recently spoken about players he likens himself to, and one of them is England and Manchester City star John Stones. He said: "[John] Stones is my reference. His style of play is closest to mine. It's not off the cuff when I go into midfield. It's following the guidelines of the coach." The Italian is a left-footed player who can play centre-back and full-back.
Emerson update
In the white half of North London, Tottenham look set to offload Emerson Royal, but a deal still hasn’t been agreed with AC Milan due to a disagreement over the fee. Romano has said: “AC Milan keep working with confidence on deal to sign Emerson Royal. No agreement on fee yet as request remains over €20m from Spurs. AC Milan's initial proposal was lower than €15m, next one expected to be higher... and get closer.

AC Milan? It’s a reference for all Brazilians.”
Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou defended Emerson last season after he got into an argument with teammate Cristian Romero. He said: “They care. They are not going to just be happy with the current situation. Because they care, they want to improve. There is nothing wrong with that as long as it stays constructive. They want to change and the situation and not just accept it.”
Chelsea strike deal
Chelsea are set to complete a deal to sign Renato Veiga from Basel, as has been expected over recent weeks. Romano added; “EXCL: Renato Veiga has completed all medical tests as Chelsea player on Wednesday in London and contract will be signed today.
“Deal valid until June 2032 after €14m deal agreed with Basel, as revealed last week. It's all set.”
