Nketiah latest

Eddie Nketiah is looking likely to depart Arsenal this summer, and French giants Marseille look as though they are the club with the most serious interest.

Romano has tweeted: “Olympique Marseille keep working on both Eddie Nketiah and Valentin Carboni deals. Carboni, almost done verbally but still waiting to get all documents approved for Valentin to travel this weekend. Nketiah said yes to OM project but still no agreement with Arsenal on fee.”

Merino links

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino this summer, and there is now a fresh update on the Euro 2024 winner’s future.

“Real Sociedad believe that Merino will not sign a new contract. They are still trying until the end to offer him a new deal, but they feel that this is going to be more than complicated,” Romano told GivemeSport.

“With one year left on his contract, the expectation is that if he doesn’t sign a new deal shortly, he’s going to be allowed to leave the club. There is interest also from Barcelona, interest also from Atletico Madrid. So these three clubs, Barca, Atletico and Arsenal, are showing an interest.”

Gallagher close to departure

Over at Stamford Bridge, It seems Chelsea are close to agreeing a deal to send Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid. The Blues looked set to keep the midfield, but Atleti’s persistence appears to have paid off, and the midfielder will find a new home in the Spanish capital if there are no hiccups.

“Atlético Madrid and Chelsea are on the verge of reaching an agreement for Conor Gallagher after talks in the last 24h,” Romano said. “Story revealed on Tuesday morning, talks accelerated and €35/40m package almost agreed; small details to sort. It all depends on Conor's decision.”

Chelsea push for Mec

On the incomings front, Chelsea are said to be pushing ahead in their bid to land Brazilian talent Gabriel Mec. Romano said: “Chelsea are planning to advance on Gabriel Mec deal after presenting their project to 2008 born Brazilian talent.”
