With both Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette out of contract at the end of the season, the Gunners have already started their hunt for an attacker and could come toe-to-toe with London rivals Chelsea.

The Blues have seen Romelu Lukaku’s return to the club flop and both clubs are now thought to be interested in their former striker, Tammy Abraham.

The England international has been on fire for Roma since his move from Stamford Bridge last year, scoring 15 goals in Serie A.

It is unclear whether Abraham would favour a return to his former club or would see Arsenal as a fresh opportunity, however former Liverpool player, John Barnes, believes a move to the Emirates Stadium would be a good option for him.

Speaking to BonusBetCodes Barnes said: “If Abraham wants to come back to England, Arsenal would be a fantastic club for him.

“They need a centre forward - Lacazette looks like he’s going, Aubameyang’s not there and Nketiah may not be the answer.

“If Abraham wants to come back to London, it would be a good move for him and a good move for Arsenal.”

Abraham struggled to maintain a spot in the starting line-up under Tuchel last season, however he shone in his breakthrough 2019/20 campaign, bagging 15 goals in 34 league appearances for the Blues.

However, one stumbling block for Arsenal would be the asking price.

Roma only just paid £34 million for him less than a year ago and still has four years left on his contract, so it isn’t surprising to see the Italian giants aren’t willing to roll over easily - with them reportedly setting a whopping £100 million asking price on their star man.

Meanwhile, Roma have confirmed that Chelsea put a buy-back clause in the striker’s contract and could bring him back to London next summer for £67 million.
