Arsenal are looking to make serious additions to their team in the January transfer window - one of Everton's key midfielders, Amadou Onana, is thought to be one of their targets this winter.

This is according to a report from Football Insider, which notes that Onana is 'crucial' to the Toffees' setup. Any club who wishes to take him on board will be required to pay Everton a fee of £60 million as they do not want to lose such an important player in the middle of the season.

Arsenal are also looking to add other midfielders to their team, including Aston Villa's Douglas Luiz, with Thomas Partey and Jorginho reportedly set to leave the club. It seems that Mikel Arteta is keen to overhaul the Gunners' midfield in the ongoing January transfer window.

How would Amadou Onana strengthen Arsenal's squad?

Onana is currently one of the most underrated players in the Premier League, boasting a near-complete skillset and an immense level of athleticism. He has played in every Everton game where he has been available for selection, which shows how highly he is valued by Sean Dyche.

In terms of technical ability, Arsenal's midfield is one of the best in world football. While it contains masters of the craft such as Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jorginho are all high-level operators, none of them are particularly aggressive or physically domineering. At 6ft 4 and with a seemingly limitless engine, bringing Onana to the club would be a great way to add physicality to Arsenal's midfield.

Only three midfielders - Tomas Soucek, Sander Berge and Jefferson Lerma - have won more aerial duels in the Premier League than Onana this season. Additionally, he is only 22 years of age - meaning that he still has plenty of growing and developing to do.
