European club are 'wanting' to sign Arsenal starlet in the summer transfer window

An Arsenal youngster is the subject of transfer interest from a top-tier club in Europe.

Arsenal's Mika Biereth is currently on loan at Sturm Graz in the Austrian Bundesliga - and they are thought to be interested in snapping up the 21-year-old on a permanent basis when the summer transfer window opens its doors.

This is according to a report from the Evening Standard, who mention that Graz are 'likely' to face stern competition for Biereth's signature from several other clubs - it does not mention these other clubs by name, however. Previously, Championship outfit Sheffield Wednesday have been linked with a move for Biereth, but it is unclear if the Owls' interest is still active as they find themselves locked in a relegation battle.

The Gunners snapped up Biereth from Fulham's academy in 2021. He has yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal - instead, he has spent time out on loan at RKC Waalwijk and Motherwell. At Graz, he has scored four goals and has notched up a single assist over the course of six Austrian Bundesliga games.

Should Arsenal allow Mika Biereth to leave the club in the summer transfer window?

While Biereth is currently in inspired form for Graz, he may struggle to break into Arsenal's first team - especially with the Gunners set to bolster their attacking options before the beginning of the 2024/25 campaign.

With just under a year and a half left on Biereth's contract, it makes sense to sell him in the summer - rather than trying to fit him into the senior team and allowing him to leave on a free transfer the following summer. Pragmatically, it makes the most sense to sell Biereth in the upcoming window.

Moreover, Biereth appears to be thriving at Graz, given his goal record with them. For both the club and the player, a move to Graz seems to make a lot of sense as things stand.
