Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure came close for the hosts before Leandro Trossard had his effort well saved by Pickford in the closing stages.

The result could see Arsenal's lead at the top of the table cut to two points if Manchester City beat Tottenham on Sunday.
