'Panic and chaos' - Bukayo Saka urges Arsenal to avoid destructive mindset ahead of Chelsea clash
Arsenal are without a win in their last three Premier League games
Arsenal have seen a slight dip in form over the past two weeks as they are winless in their last three Premier League games including defeats to Bournemouth and a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last weekend which left the Gunners seven points off league leaders Liverpool after 10 matches.
They face another tough run of games with Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night and Chelsea on Sunday in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge. If they aren’t able to win at Chelsea, some will suggest that their title hopes could be dashed, especially if Liverpool and Manchester City are able to pick up good results.
However, winger Bukayo Saka believes that they are far from out of it yet and that both the players and the fans need to remain calm despite the poor results. He told the Mirror: “For me, I always live by the quote, ‘it's not what you see, it's what you believe’. If you look at our squad, the quality we have, the players we have and at the same time we're only in November so I don't think I've lost any belief, I don't think anyone will change it if I have to.
“Obviously there's a lot of noise around the club and we lost two games and drew another one. But at the same time it's important to stay calm and doing all of these things can at the same time create more calm. We don’t want to create any panic and chaos and I don't think we need that right now.”
Arsenal hopeful of major injury boost
The Gunners have struggled more since the injury to captain Martin Odegaard who suffered an ankle injury during international duty with Norway in the October break. He has missed over two months of Arsenal games and the Gunners have seemed to struggle to create as many chances in his absence.
However, the good news heading into this weekend is that the midfielder is back in training with the team and even travelled to Italy for their game against Inter Milan on Wednesday. There is a slim chance he could feature in the Champions League, but he is more likely to return against Chelsea at the weekend.
Mikel Arteta said on Tuesday: “The positive news is it’s great to have Martin back. He’s trained with us for the first time, a full session today. He felt good; it’s a bit earlier than we expected, but he wanted to be with the team, so we’ll decide tomorrow whether we use him.”
