Aston Villa vs Arsenal early injury news as four ruled out and two doubts
All the latest injury news surrounding Arsenal and Aston Villa as the two teams prepare to face off in the Premier League.
Arsenal are back in action on Saturday when they face top four rivals from last season Aston Villa. The Gunners got off to a winning start last week, defeating Wolves at home, while Villa picked up a big three points away to West Ham.

Arsenal are likely to face a much more tricky test this weekend against a strong, Champions League-bound Villa side who will be playing their home opener. Ahead of the game, we have rounded up the early injury news surrounding both teams before Arteta and Unai Emery speak to reporters and provide further injury updates later this week.
Kieran Tierney - Out
Tierney picked up a hamstring injury at Euro 2024 and remains out. He is not likely to play a part for Arsenal this season in any case with the search for a new club ongoing. Arteta has said of Tierney’s fitness: “He needs to focus on recovering in the best possible way, it’s been a tough time for him again with the last injury. We have to try to support him and make sure he gets back fit.”
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
Tomiyasu will be hoping to return in September at the earliest, with Arteta saying earlier this month: “I think it will take weeks on that one, unfortunately, and poor Tomi because of everything that he does. But he’s going to have to be patient and work through it because I think it’s going to take a few weeks.”
Fabio Vieira - Doubt
Vieira was close to returning for the Wolves game but did not make the squad. Arteta said ahead of that one: "We have checked him now after training to see how he is but he looked to adapt to it.” Vieira didn’t quite make it but will be hopeful of returning here and he will hope to enjoy a more injury-free season this time around.
Boubacar Kamara - Out
Kamara is recovering form an ACL and is still some way off returning having not yet returned to training. Emery recently said: “Previously the plan was to start in this month to train with us. He is not training with us yet but hopefully in the beginning of September he can join us, progressively thinking he can fully train in September or October and then he can play."
Tyrone Mings - Out
Mings remains out with his long-term knee injury. He will be absent until the second half of October. Mings recently said of his injury struggles: "It's a lonely time going in for surgeries and stuff, but you learn some key lessons through it. I've had three surgeries on this knee that is currently injured. It feels good. Everybody has experiences that they go through and how you bounce back from that and deal with that plays a big part in the path that you take."
Robin Olsen - Doubt
Olsen won’t be starting in any case, but he picked up an injury in pre-season and is battling to return. He could be in contention to feature on the bench for this one.
