Arsenal transfer news: Gunners ‘willing to sell’ £50m star, Crystal Palace ‘lead race’ for Chelsea talent

The Gunners still want to strengthen their midfield this summer, and according to talkSPORT, via Give Me Sport, they are now ramping up their efforts to sign Tielemans.

The Belgian faces an uncertain future at Leicester City with less than a year remaining on his current contract.

If Tielemans is not going to pen a new deal, it is likely the Foxes will sell him this summer to avoid missing out on a transfer fee altogether.

And it seems Arsenal are looking to take full advantage by striking a cut-price deal to take Tielemans to the Emirates Stadium.

The midfielder has been one of the stand-out players at the King Power Stadium over recent years, and he has been linked with a move to one of the Premier League’s traditional top six clubs for some time.

In fact, only this time last year Jamie Redknapp was urging title hopefuls Liverpool to sign the 25-year-old.

“I always look at Liverpool as buying the best players. I would go for [Youri] Tielemans – I would do everything in my power to get him into the club,” he said on Sky Sports.

“He’s a Liverpool type of player. Leicester fans will probably be throwing cups of tea at the TV now, saying, ‘well, why would he want to leave when he’s at a big club?’ And he is at a big club with a great manager.

“Leicester are obviously in the ascendancy; I love what they’re doing there.

“They’re not a selling club anymore, but that’s the sort of player who you need to get, who will come into the club and make you better because right now, that’s where they’re short”
