Arsenal vs West Ham final injury update as 10 players ruled out and 1 passed fit
A look at the final injury news ahead of the all-London clash between Arsenal and West Ham at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal’s title bid will be tested by London rivals West Ham on Saturday, with the Hammers headed to the Emirates Stadium in search of an upset of sorts. The Irons need to start picking up points if they want to finish in the top-half, and Graham Potter will want to see some progress after a tricky opening few weeks.
The Gunners are still plagued by attacking injuries, but they showed last weekend that they can find answers within their quality-rich squad. Here we round up the injury news ahead of the clash.
Michail Antonio - Out
Antonio is out long-term with the leg injury he sustained in a car crash.
Crysencio Summerville - Out
Potter said this week: “Cry is making progress, but a similar timeline, and we're looking at the other side of the international break.”
Lucas Paqueta - Out
Potter confirmed that Paqueta has a fresh issue and will miss this one. He said: “He went over on his ankle in a little bit of a collision with Aaron Wan Bissaka. So yeah, he'll be missing for the game, and probably Leicester as well.”
Vladimir Coufal - Out
Confirming the latest on Coufal’s hamstring issue, Potter said: “Vlad still has a bit of a feeling, so I think the game will come a little too soon for him. He's got an outside chance for Leicester.”
Niclas Fullkrug - Out
Fullkrug is out with a longer term issue and will not return here.
Gabriel Jesus - Out
Jesus is out for the rest of the season, and likely much of the calendar year, after suffering an ACL rupture.
Kai Havertz - Out
Havertz is out for the season after requiring hamstring surgery. Arteta said last week: “We were having a great camp in Dubai recharging, training, having some time off and connecting again with nature in a different environment, and then the injury happened in a very unexpected way.”
Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out
A statement confirmed this week: “Despite an initial procedure, followed by a RTT, Tomi continued to have issues with his knee, resulting in a further corrective surgical procedure. He will now begin his rehab programme, which is expected to be completed towards the end of this year.”
Bukayo Saka - Out
Saka will not return from his hamstring issue until some stage in March, at the earliest.
Gabriel Martinelli - Out
Martinelli will not return here, though the extent of his injury is not yet clear.
Ben White - Fit
Arteta said on Friday: “He is ready to play. Whether to start or not is a decision we will make tomorrow, but he’s certainly available now to be a part of the group.”
