Arsenal v Shakhtar Donetsk injury news with 4 out and 2 doubts as Gunners duo absent from training
Arsenal are back in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday night as they host Shakhtar Donetsk at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners head into the contest after losing 2-0 to Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday night.
Arsenal started their Champions League campaign with a 0-0 draw at last season’s Europa League winners Atalanta before beating Paris Saint-Germain 2-0 in North London in their latest European fixture. Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber have emerged as doubts for the game after the pair missed training on Monday afternoon. Providing an update on the pair, manager Mikel Arteta said they would both be close calls on whether they would play. He said: “I think it’s gonna be close. We’ll have to see how he [Timber] deals with training with the whole group because he hasn’t done it yet. With Bukayo let’s see how he is with the training session later on.”

Hide AdCaptain Martin Odegaard is not yet fit after picking up an injury while on international duty with Norway in September while Kieran Tierney remains out. The left-back hasn't played yet this season and it remains to be seen when he will be back as he recovers from a hamstring problem.
Fellow defender Takehiro Tomiyasu is also facing a long spell out and won’t return on Tuesday night. Arteta said last week: “We don’t know that (how long he will be out for). It doesn’t look like, hopefully, a long period but we have to see when he comes back how he reacts to the load and to the impact on the pitch as well. But we really need him, he has been incredible, his work rate, the amount of hours he has put in to get back. He did it and he was in great shape – and now he has got something else again. But, we are all behind him. He needs our support and hopefully, he will be fine.”
The good news for Arsenal is that William Saliba will be available following his red card against the Cherries. His suspension does not carry across into Europe, meaning he will likely play on Tuesday before missing the Premier League visit of Liverpool.
Out: Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kieran Tierney. Doubts: Bukayo Saka, Jurrien Timber
