Arsenal winger Marquinhos has joined Nantes on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Norwich and will once again continue his development elsewhere.

He joined Arsenal last summer from Sao Paulo in a deal worth £3m, scoring once in the Europa League against FC Zurich in the six appearances he made for the club.

LondonWorld understands the loan deal with Nantes does not include any option or obligation to purchase the Brazil youngster.

“He’s very popular, with no English, just with his smile and attitude,” said Gunners boss Mikel Arteta when asked about Marquinhos last season.

“He has earned the respect and admiration of everybody here.

“It was a big step for him because he hasn’t played enough minutes with us but we were willing to give him the opportunity. I think he deserved it, I think he took it really well and he’s a player that needs to keep developing and in order to do that we need to give him opportunities.”
