Arsenal must wait until the weekend for another attempt to close the gap on Liverpool in the Premier League title race. Both sides picked up wins in their latest outings, leaving the gap at seven points.
The Gunners are already eyeing a busy summer transfer window amid links to exciting targets. The injury setbacks to the likes of Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus has Mikel Arteta and co searching the market for new attackers, and one of the main names on the radar is Alexander Isak.

Newcastle could lower Alexander Isak asking price
Isak is one of the most sought-after forwards in the world right now and the summer will undoubtedly bring some exciting signing attempts for fans to follow. Arsenal have been linked with the Swedish star for some time now, but title rivals Liverpool are also in the mix. Barcelona and Chelsea have registered their interest in Isak as well, leaving him with plenty of options to consider if he does leave St James’ Park.
With 19 goals and five assists in all competitions so far this season, Newcastle have set the bar high when it comes to rivals looking to sign Isak. According to Teamtalk, the Magpies were looking for an eye-watering fee of £120 million to part ways with the 25-year-old. However, they could now be willing to tear a significant chunk off that amount but on one condition only.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Newcastle ‘would be willing’ to significantly lower their asking price for Isak if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. A staggering reduction of £37 million from the initially quoted amount would mean Newcastle could let the striker go at the end of the season for £83 million. While it’s still a high asking price, it’s a sheer drop from their initial valuation, which could turn a lot of heads in their direction.

England have a strong chance of earning a fifth spot in the Champions League next season, which will be great news for the Magpies as they are currently just two points off fifth place. However, the competition is heating up as we near the end of the season.
Arsenal and Chelsea rivals want also want Isak
While Arsenal and Chelsea are both after another top class striker for their rosters, Liverpool are also in pursuit of Isak’s signature.
According to Fichajes, the Reds are plotting a mammoth bid in attempt to beat the competition to Isak’s signature. A priority for Arne Slot right now is reportedly a new top-class striker who can help the team ‘make a definitive leap forward’. The manager is looking to add world-class attacking power to his frontline, and Liverpool are working on a ‘record-breaking offer’ to beat everyone to Isak’s signature.
It was also recently reported that Isak is ‘very interested’ in joining the ranks at Anfield, which could tip the scales in their direction, especially if they pip Arsenal to the title.
