The forward will join a Premier League rival in the summer, despite interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.

Arsenal and Tottenham have both been linked with signing a striker during the January transfer window as they aim to add depth up front.

The Gunners are without striker Gabriel Jesus, who suffered an ACL injury early in January which will keep him out for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke suffered an injury which is expected to keep him on the side-lines for an extended period.

Arsenal have been linked to several top attackers, including Ollie Watkins, who they saw a £60m bid rejected for by Aston Villa. However, another Gunners-linked striker is now set to join a Premier League rival.

Stefanos Tzimas agrees to transfer deadline day move

Nuremberg striker Stefanos Tzimas has previously been linked to Tottenham and Arsenal, but he has now agreed to join Premier League rivals Brighton instead. Brighton announced the signing of Tzimas for a fee claimed to be in the region of £20.8m. However, he won’t join until the summer as he will spend the remainder of the season on loan at the German side.

The 19-year-old has generated a lot of Premier League interest, with reports in Italy via ManchesterWorld reporting that United were keen on him earlier in the January transfer window. Furthermore, he was also linked with Liverpool but has made the move to the south xoast instead.

Tzimas has made 17 league appearances this season, scoring 10 goals and contributing one assist. After he was announced, Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler said: “Stefanos is an exceptional young talent, an out-and-out centre-forward with a natural ability to score goals, and we are absolutely delighted to have signed him. He will join up with us in the summer, ahead of next season, but we are really looking forward to working with him, and feel he has a very exciting future ahead."

Arsenal are not going to sign Mathys Tel

The Gunners have been linked to Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel this month, alongside Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur. However, he looks unlikely to leave now.

According to Sky Sports, Arsenal aren’t going to make a move to sign Mathys Tel late on deadline day, and will look at alternative targets instead. Arsenal had previously been linked to Benjamin Sesko, who doesn’t look likely to move this month, with a summer transfer more likely. Furthermore, Wolves striker Matheus Cunha signed a new contract at Molineux, meaning that it looks unlikely that he will leave the Midlands-based club.

With a move for Tel looking unlikely, and with Sesko and Cunha ruled out, the Gunners are running out of options to sign a striker. Watkins remains the most likely option after Aston Villa signed Marcus Rashford, but it is expected that Villa don’t want to sell the England international.
