The January transfer window is fast approaching. How will Arsenal look to improve their squad during the first month of 2024 and will they choose to offload anyone at the midpoint of the 2023-24 season?

The Gunners look set to part ways with one of their midfielders but he'll likely stick around until the summer though. Meanwhile, one of Arsenal's outcasts is set to stay at the club at Mikel Arteta's insistence, despite rumours of him looking to depart the Emirates Stadium.

Jorginho to leave Arsenal in the summer

Jorginho's playing time at Arsenal has been limited since his arrival at the Emirates Stadium. He was largely brought in to deputise for Thomas Partey - now that Partey himself is used as a backup option to Declan Rice, Jorginho has fallen down the pecking order.

Due to this, it's likely he will leave the club in the summer, according to Football Insider. There is an option in his contract for Arsenal to extend his stay for an extra year, but it seems that they will not exercise this.

Mikel Arteta to block any moves in January for Aaron Ramsdale

Aaron Ramsdale has all but lost his position as Arsenal's first-choice goalkeeper this season to new arrival David Raya. Despite several calls for him to leave the club, Mikel Arteta appears keen on keeping him in North London.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ben Jacobs said: "I'm also told that if Arsenal have their way, they would still like to keep him until the end of the season for depth, and because, despite Raya being the number one, they just don't see a great deal between the two goalkeepers. So, they believe that Ramsdale has all the qualities to play and step in when needed, whether that's a congested fixture calendar, an injury, or a drop in form to Raya.

"So, Arteta doesn't want to lose Ramsdale, but players will always have their say, too. The longer it goes on where Ramsdale is sitting on the bench, the less happy he will be and the more likely it will be that other clubs come calling."
