Arsenal tipped to 'cash in' on player they signed in 2023 as Mikel Arteta 'sets requirement'

Arsenal are being tipped to sell a player they signed relatively recently amid increased competition in Mikel Arteta's squad.

Arsenal could be set to sell a player they paid £21million to sign just over one year ago. The Gunners have been big spenders in recent times, with more than £200million spent as recently as last summer.

The upside of that investment is that Mikel Arteta now has an ultra-strong squad, and one that now sits top of the Premier League. But the downsides include Financial Fair Play implications and overcrowding in certain areas. Departures can ease both of those concerns, but sales can be tricky.

One sale Arsenal are now being tipped to make in some form is that of Jakub Kiwior. The defender burst onto the scene after arriving on a £21million deal from Spezia back in 2023, but he has since fallen out of favour. The Poland international has started just nine times in the Premier League this season, and that has sparked interest from abroad, according to reports.

TeamTalk report that Italian giants AC Milan are interested in signing the defender, and that a loan deal could be sought ahead of the summer. But it's claimed Arteta is not keen on a deal that would include an option to buy, instead preferring a deal including a mandatory purchase, guaranteeing Arsenal money further down the line.

Kiwior would also be keen on a move, according to the report, with the 24-year-old having already enjoyed good form in Italy previously, while he likely wants to play regular football. As for Arsenal, if Arteta isn't convinced by the defender, he would likely want to secure a deal that would lead to a permanent move given Kiwior is under contract until 2028, putting Arsenal in a position where they would likely lose money if they are not going to use the player.
