Arsenal transfer target Ivan Toney has given insight as to where his next club may be. In a recent interview, he named Arsenal and Liverpool as a pair of potential suitors. While Toney mentioned that he is a boyhood Liverpool supporter, he also noted that he has always ‘liked’ Arsenal and has an admiration for how the Gunners play.

While Arsenal already have two quality strikers in the form of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah, some audiences have questioned whether they will be able to score 25 goals a season or not. Should Toney make the jump to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window, he would be reunited with one of his old Bees teammates - David Raya.

Speaking to Diary of a CEO on YouTube, Toney said: “The next club I go to, if I was to move, would be the right club. I’ve been a Liverpool fan my whole life… but from [being] young, I’ve liked Arsenal. I’ve liked watching Arsenal and how they play and how passionate their fans are. I’m a Liverpool boy at heart.”

Who else, besides Arsenal, are interested in a move for Ivan Toney?

Arsenal’s interest in Toney certainly seems apparent, but this does not mean that they are alone in the race to secure the Brentford man’s signature. As well as the Gunners, clubs such as Manchester United and Chelsea have also been linked with him [via the Daily Express]. Additionally, given his affinity for the club, Liverpool could also throw their hat into the ring in an attempt to secure Toney’s signature.

How much could Ivan Toney cost Arsenal?

If Arsenal are serious about bringing Toney to the club, he will not be a cheap acquisition. The Daily Mail reports that Toney could cost as much as £80 million in January.

Of course, Toney’s inactivity must be taken into account - he has not played a competitive game of football since May 6 - but an athlete of his calibre should have minimal issues in getting back up to speed. But the Daily Mail also report that Toney is courting Arsenal too and wants to make the move.
