Luiz chase

Arsenal are indeed going after Douglas Luiz, according to RTI Esporte, who claim the Brazilian has been chosen as the replacement for Jorginho, who is out of contract at the end of this month.

Flamengo are said to be keen on Jorginho, who Arsenal are willing to allow to leave on a deal worth around £8.4million, according to the report, and they are willing to tie him down to a one-year deal to avoid him leaving for free. The report says Luiz is of interest to Arsenal, although the deal may require a big fee despite the midfielder struggling since his move to Italy last summer. It’s claimed Arsenal have contacted the player’s camp, but they are yet to make an offer.

Sesko blow

Arsenal will find it hard to land RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko due to the German club’s insistance on keeping their star man, according to Fabrizio Romano. "[One target is] Benjamin Sesko, because they had some contacts for Sesko in the last 10 to 15 days,” he told GiveMeSport.

"But what I'm told is that RB Leipzig insist on their decision to keep the player at the club until the end of the season. So it's not going to be easy. It will take something completely crazy in terms of financials to convince Leipzig in January."

Damsgaard to pen new deal

A previous Arsenal target Mikkel Damsgaard is set to sign a new contract with Brentford that will last up until the summer of 2030. Damsgaard has impressed with the Bees, scoring three times and providing seven assists in 27 appearances.

Damsgaard was recently linked with a move to Arsenal, and he was asked about it by TipsBladet, responding: “No, I have seen that there was a small rumour. But it is not something that I think is concrete. It is good enough that you are put in contact with clubs like this. There was also a lot of that back then after European Championship, but there is rarely much of it that is concrete. But it’s nice enough to hear. It is better to hear that you can be rumoured to some bigger clubs than that there might be nothing at all.”
