Haaland blow

Manchester City have been handed a huge blow as they prepare to face Brighton on Thursday night, with striker Erling Haaland ruled out for the fixture. Haaland picked up an injury during the Champions League clash with Real Madrid, requesting to be substituted before extra-time of that game.

Guardiola has said Haaland’s injury is ‘not a big issue’ but that the striker will need to take time off to recover, starting with Thursday night’s clash with Brighton. That will put bigger pressure on City as they look to remain ahead of Arsenal in the title race. City face Nottingham Forest away on Sunday, and they will hope to have their talisman back for that one.

Rice trajectory

Joe Cole believes Arsenal star Joe Cole could go on to be better than former Gunners and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas. He told JOE: “I mean Dec’s a great player, he’s a great player, but they have some all-time greats.

“I’m sure in four year’s time we’ll be talking about Declan how we talked about Patrick Vieira and Cesc Fabregas and people like that, but I won’t embarrass Dec and put his name there yet, but he will be there that’s for sure.”
