Arsenal have been in Premier League action this weekend

Arsenal drew 1-1 at home to Brentford on Saturday night. Thomas Partey got their goal in the second half as they went 1-0 up against the Bees. However, the visitors equalised through Yoane Wissa and the hosts weren’t able to find a winner afterwards.

Mikel Arteta’s side remain 2nd in the Premier League table behind Liverpool. They are back in action this week with their Champions League second leg tie against Real Madrid. The Gunners beat the La Liga giants 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium in the first leg.

Arsenal

Reporter Christian Falk has poured cold water on Arsenal links to Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane. As per a report by CF Bayern Insider, the journalist has said rumours suggesting the Gunners are interested in the player along with Liverpool are not ‘concrete’. He has added that he thinks the player’s ‘future’ remains at the Allianz Arena.

Sane, who is valued at £33million on Transfermarkt, is out of contract at the end of the season. He is due to become a free agent as things stand. It remains to be seen at this stage whether his current club will be able to tie him down to an extension and they are yet to strike an agreement.

The Germany international, 29, joined Bayern Munich back in 2020 and he has since made 214 appearances in all competitions, chipping in with 59 goals. He broke into the first-team of Schalke as a youngster before Manchester City lured him over to England as a youngster. He then went on to play 135 matches during his time at the Etihad Stadium and he went on to find the net on 39 occasions.

If Arsenal landed him, he would give them something different going forward. They also wouldn’t need to fork out a transfer fee which would be a boost. However, Falk believes he will stay where he is.

Arsenal reaction to Brentford draw

It ended up being a frustrating match for Arsenal against Brentford. They will be disappointed that they weren’t able to get three points against the Bees. Speaking afterwards, Arteta said: “I think we have to be critical with ourselves, especially the way we conceded the goal. Against Brentford, you know what they have.

“You have a free-kick, the goalie is going to put it there. From there, try to get a throw in, from there, they try to get a corner, and then once you clear the ball, it's a second ball game, and that second ball game, we can’t defend the space close to the taker well enough and then it's a lottery, because they do that really well and it's our fault.”

He added: “I don't know but atmosphere was different to Tuesday that’s for sure. I don’t know if this was playing the back of the crowd. For us, as professionals, we know the importance of that, today what we going to do was increase the probability of us really challenging for what we are looking for in the Premier League and with that result, obviously it's more unlikely to happen.”
