Fabrizio Romano confirms £45m Spurs, West Ham & Arsenal target is expected to leave rivals 'in next few days'

A host of London’s Premier League clubs have been linked with a £45m-valued striker this month

With just a week remaining in the January transfer window, a number of clubs throughout London will be keen to get some business done ahead of the final months of the season.

For Arsenal, they are on the hunt for a striker to bolster their forward line after a season-ending injury to Gabriel Jesus and a long-term hamstring issue for star player Bukayo Saka. Tottenham Hotspur are struggling amid a host of injury problems with pressure ramped up on Ange Postecoglou after a 2-1 loss to Leicester City on Sunday. The only arrival at the club so far is goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky with former midfielder Jamie O’Hara criticising his old side for a lack of activity in the market.

At West Ham, Graham Potter is eager to bolster his squad after being appointed to replace Julen Lopetegui at the London Stadium. However, the former Chelsea and Brighton manager has yet to see any arrivals come through the door.

Ferguson to leave Brighton ‘in a few days’

One player linked to all three of Arsenal, Spurs and West Ham is out-of-favour Brighton striker Evan Ferguson. According to talkSPORT, the Republic of Ireland international is the first choice striker target for the Hammers having worked with Potter on the south coast. The same report adds that the Gunners ‘cannot be ruled out’ of making a move. Speaking on talkSPORT last week, journalist Ben Jacobs added that the Gunners are monitoring developments, and that Brighton would demand a fee of £45m for a permanent exit. However, a loan is more likely this month. The Daily Mail has credited Spurs with an interest while the likes of Everton and Bournemouth are also said to be keeping an eye on developments with the player.

Amid interest from a host of top-flight clubs, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the 20-year-old will depart the Amex Stadium ‘in the next few days’. Romano posted on X: “Evan Ferguson, expected to leave Brighton on loan in the next days with genuine interest from several clubs. PL, Ligue1 and Bundesliga clubs have made contact with decision to follow soon.”

Potter, Arteta and Postecoglou on transfer business

With Jesus and Saka injured, Arteta has said of Arsenal’s potential business: "My opinion is clear. We lost two very important players in Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, so we lack goals, people, and options in the front line. It's clear that for the period that we have lost them, ideally we need some help, because we were short already and we're even shorter. The team has still coped with that but we have do what is right for the club.”

West Ham are also battling injury woes in attack, with Niclas Fullkrug picking up a hamstring injury in the FA Cup loss to Aston Villa. Of potential business Potter said earlier this month: “I think in every window there’s always a responsibility for the club to look and to see if there’s anything that can help us in terms of whether that’s short term, medium term, long term. That’s normal. Every club in the world is in that position. The challenge for us is to make some quick decisions and to learn around what we have, what the strengths of the players are, how we can support them, if we can.”

Spurs are set to be without Dominic Solanke until the end of February and are also keen to bolster. On possible movement before the deadline, Postecoglou said: "I don't think I'm stating anything other than the obvious and for me to come here and say something else would be disingenuous. This playing group needs help, there's no doubt about that. We're sort of playing with fire by not bringing anyone in, but the flip side of that is the club is trying to change that situation."
