Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham have all had their hopes of Premier League success boosted today by news coming out of Liverpool that forward Diogo Jota is set for a spell on the sidelines.

The Portugal international was on the scoresheet as Jurgen Klopp's men beat Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday but picked up a fitness issue in that match. Jota has only just come back from a knee niggle and made his first start since February at the weekend.

Speaking ahead of the Merseyside derby this week, Klopp said: “Unfortunately, yes. Diogo scored the goal, felt a little bit and now we found out it’s a little bit more. So he will be out for two weeks. Besides that, no [other new injury concerns].

“I cannot really say a lot about it, to be honest. Before which game where he didn’t start, he got a knock – normal challenge, then felt a little bit at the hip. That was then fine because we didn’t start him, brought him on, that was alright.

“Then he started the last game, was obviously OK and then with the finish… It's a small one but we are late in the season, so obviously now it’s not a great moment for each injury pretty much. It’s not a big one. When I say two weeks, actually really it’s pretty much nothing but enough to not be available.”

Liverpool travel to West Ham on Saturday and then host Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday, May 5 with Jota likely to miss both of those games. The tricky forward's absence is no doubt a boost for David Moyes and Ange Postecoglou - Jota has won eight of his nine Liverpool games against the Hammers and has three goals in six outings against Spurs.

The 27-year-old's injury worry would of course be a boost to Arsenal too, should the Reds struggle to pick up three points against either West Ham or Spurs. Liverpool are challenging the Gunners and Manchester City for the Premier League title - the Reds are level on points with Mikel Arteta's side as it stands.
