Sporting CP vs Arsenal injury news as 4 ruled out for Champions League clash

All the latest injury news surrounding Arsenal and Sporting CP as they prepare to face off in the Champions League.

Arsenal are now back to winning ways after taking care of business against Nottingham Forest in their first game back from the international break. The Gunners still have lots of ground to make up, but they will feel as though they have eased the pressure a little with a much-needed win.

For now, attention turns to the Champions League and an away clash with Sporting CP on Tuesday night. Ahead of that one, we have rounded up all the latest injury news surrounding both teams.

Nuno Santos - Out

Santos ruptured his patellar tendon in October and will be lucky to return by next season. There are few worse injuries for a footballer in the modern age, with the patellar tendon a particularly difficult one to heal.

Pedro Goncalves - Out

Goncalves is sidelined with a muscular tear that will keep him out until the new year.

Ben White - Out

White is out for an extended period after having surgery on his knee. Arteta has said: “Ben is going to be out for months. We had to make a decision in the last few weeks, unfortunately. It got to a point where we had to protect the player, and we decided to do the surgery.”

Takehiro Tomiyasu - Out

Tomiyasu was expected to return this month but he has suffered a setback in his knee injury. Arteta has said: “Tomiyasu is going to be out for a bit. He's going away for a few weeks to change his environment because it's been really tough for him. We're going to give him the best opportunity to try and unlock something, but I think we need to be patient.”

Kieran Tierney - Fit

Tierney is returning from his hamstring injury. Arteta has said: “Everyone who is in the squad is fully fit to start the game. We have Kieran Tierney with us after a long injury. It’s great news that he is back, he’s been training with us and he is available to participate.”
