Arsenal eye two stars for seventh summer signing as deals for Madueke & Gyokeres near completion
Arsenal’s summer transfer window has burst into life in recent days
The pressure was firmly on Mikel Arteta heading into this summer transfer window. The Spaniard was more than aware that Arsenal fans were losing patience with their club’s lack of activity in recent windows, with attacking signings demanded at all costs.

The summer began slowly at the Emirates, but in the last two weeks Gunners fans have finally begun to get their way. Firstly, Kepa Arrizabalaga arrived as David Raya’s new understudy, before a first marquee signing of the window was secured in Martin Zubimendi. Brentford captain Christian Norgaard would soon follow.
Now, the attacking signings fans craved have now finally begun to come to fruition. Viktor Gyokeres is close to completing a big-money move from Sporting CP in what many will believe to be the most crucial signing of all, while Chelsea star Noni Madueke is also set to complete a £52m move to offer competition on the wing. Young defender Cristhian Mosquera is set to be next in a move from Valencia, before a seventh signing may complete a dream window for Arteta.
Arsenal continue to target two big-name stars for seventh summer signing
As per the latest updates by The Athletic, Arsenal are not done with their transfer business and have two top-class attacking stars on the agenda as Arteta targets a seventh signing of the window.
While many of their most glaring positional needs will have been sorted if the aforementioned six deals all get over the line, an attacking player who can operate off the left wing may be their final major port of call. Gabriel Martinelli has been inconsistent over the last two seasons and Leandro Trossard is reportedly not seen as the long-term solution amidst Fenerbahce links, while Madueke is more likely to be used as an understudy to Bukayo Saka on the right.
Arteta is targeting Real Madrid winger Rodrygo and Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze to fill this void, both deemed upgrades on their current left-wing options. Eze can also play in a more creative midfield role and can take the burden off Martin Odegaard in that sense.
The Athletic’s report states that sales may be needed in order to fund a big-money move for either of Rodrygo or Eze, with Trossard or Martinelli potential casualties in addition to returned loanees Reiss Nelson, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Karl Hein and Fabio Vieira. If north of £50m is raised in sales then an ambitious £77m move for Rodrygo or £68m move for Eze would likely do little damage.
Arsenal’s dream new XI could be serious challengers
If Arsenal manage to get all their major transfer dealings over the line, the result could be their strongest line-up under Arteta yet. The Gunners already boast the best defensive record in the Premier League and may be set to remedy their attacking issues too.
Zubimendi will replace and arguably provide an upgrade on the departed Thomas Partey, while Declan Rice is continuing to get better and better and was possibly one of the best midfielders in the world last season. The class of Odegaard is well known despite his inconsistencies after returning from injury, while the signing of Eze would take the pressure to create off the Norwegian.
Alternatively, Rodrygo would provide a dynamic threat from the left to complement Saka on the right, while Gyokeres is expected to have no issues finding the net with a host of top-quality players alongside him. It is difficult to find a weakness in this Arsenal side, particularly with the likes of Madueke, Martinelli and Mosquera as back-up. Should no late transfer hiccups be forthcoming, there is no reason why Arsenal cannot mount a serious title challenge next season.
