The Gunners look set to complete the signing of Netherlands winger Victoria Pelova from Ajax in January as Jonas Eidevall bolsters his attacking ranks.

Arsenal have long held an interest in the 23-year-old Dutch international but season ending injuries to both Beth Mead and Vivianne Miedema increased the club’s need for reinforcements and it is believed a deal is close to completion, beating off the likes of Wolfsburg and Real Madrid to the signing of the player.

Capable in a wide or advanced midfield role, Pelova would instantly boost the Arsenal ranks which have depleted by injuries ahead of their both their WSL title push and Champions League challenge.

Pelova is out of contract in the summer of 2023, however, it is understood this would not be a pre-contract agreement and that it would be completed this January if all terms are agreed.

Capped 35-times by her country, Pelova began her career with ADO Den Haag where she made 67 appearances before moving to European giants Ajax in 2019. A regular throughout the age levels for the national team, she made her first appearance in 2018 and was selected in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup in 2019, the 2020 Olympics and last summer’s World Cup.

This season she has six goal contributions in just eight league games. Interestingly, she has also faced Arsenal twice this season, featuring in both legs of their Champions League qualifier in September.
